Subject: Marathon training

Hey Ladies,

So you know it’s on my list to run a Marathon this year (tentatively scheduled for late fall). In my attempt to stay motivated I have decided to put a schedule of races together so that I am constantly training for something. Please let me know if you will be able to attend any of these with me. All I need is one buddy to sign up with me for each race. This way I will be held accountable!  I also think this will be a nice healthy way for us to spend time together this year… Plus just think how FABULOUS we will look come summer time!

If you know of another race you’d like to add/substitute to the list let me know. I think one or two a month starting Feburary will be suffice. Thanks for your support!

Always,  Allison

Hello Ladies!

I hope you are as excited as I am about our upcoming 10K!  I just wanted to share a couple of tips that have helped me in the process. Please feel free to share yours as well. Just this past Friday I ran a whole 10K on the treadmill at the gym. I have never run more than 5miles before and I can’t even remember how long ago that was. I think it was good to do it a few weeks before the actual event so that my body knows what it feels like to be active for that long. I plan to do it at least one more time before the big event. A lot of the newer treadmills have 5K and 10K training settings that I have found to be very helpful. Which ever way you choose to run it, JUST KEEP MOVING!  I think if you get your breathing down, that is more than half the battle. The rest is mind over matter, and with the group of us running together, and the adrenaline of race day, I believe we can silence those negative thoughts all the way to the finish line.

Since we don’t have a race scheduled for the month of March I would like to plan an outdoor group run. And right now I’m thinking the weekend of March 12-13. Please let me know if Saturday or Sunday is better for you and I will schedule the day that the most of us can make.

Happy Trails!
 Always,  Allison

Two months in…..March 2011

Hello Ladies!

We made it through our first race! I’m so proud of everyone. The trail run was quite an experience, but I think I like it! If you haven’t signed up for the races in April, please do so ASAP!

Below is an updated schedule of races. I have added some on here that I may not be attending, but I wanted to provide the information to you anyway. Just because I can’t go, doesn’t mean you can’t. Hopefully over the course of the next few months, you will find a new running/workout buddy amongst the group to keep you motivated and maybe even attend a race with you to help keep your momentum up. The races in question are in grey. I also greyed out the ones that have been completed.

Also, I found this great website that shows you all the trails in your area and the length of each. I just typed in MD and received a lot of results. Now that its getting warmer you should try to run outside more. The change in scenery and the fresh air should do wonders for your training!  http://www.traillink.com/home.aspx?gclid=CIbh8Z-0nKcCFYLd4AodTg7leA.  I will select one for our group run on March 13th and send you an updated email. Remember we should be able to run around 9miles this month(Lord help us!).

Finally, Jerisha has forwarded some running tips, check out the article to help take your training to a new level, http://www.active.com/running/Articles/6-Tips-to-Expand-Your-Training-Schedule.htm?cmp=291&memberid=105128023&lyrisid=21514010.

Happy Trails!

Hello Ladies!

I hope your training is going well. Jerisha and I had an awesome run on Sunday! According to mapquest we did nearly 8miles, from the National Harbor to Jones Point Park in Alexandria. This is by far the longest I have ever run. I’m definitely going to have to be nice to my body this week, but I’m so glad that I’m able to pick up the miles.

There is interest that maybe some of you would like to meet this weekend. I am available Sunday from 10:30-12:30pm if anyone would like to meet in the same spot. I just picked up my new kicks from Pacers and I can’t wait to test them out on the road. Let me know if you plan on attending.

Also, I have added a new race to May. There is a 5K and half-marathon in Alexandria that I will be attending. I will probably sign up for it next week.

Interesting Links I found…..

Sample training playlist to keep you pumped:

If I Should Die,” Jay-Z
“Get By,” Talib Kweli
“Let’s Get Retarded,” blackeyed peas
“Lose Yourself,” eminem
“Bombs Over Baghdad,” outkast
“Get Low,” Lil jon
“Caught Out There,” Kelis

Happy Trails!

Hey Ladies!

I hope your training is going well. I know our busy schedules can kind of get in the way, but try to get those miles in when you can. Even if you aren’t training for anything specific, cardio is good for your general health. You never know when you may get chased and you need to be able to outrun whoever is behind you! I know that sounds funny but as women we have to protect ourselves.

It looks like i’ll be running the 4/10 5K alone. That’s okay, but I hope I haven’t lost everyone for the long road ahead.  There are several other races below, whether I’m entering them or not, I hope you will use them to keep you motivated to keep running this year.

I am signed up for the Mud Run on 4/30. This is a 5K with an obstacle course, and you will get dirty! If you can’t make this one there will be another one in Quantico in June.

Also, I just signed up for the Alexandria Running Festival on 5/29. I will be doing a half marathon but there is also a 5K. All the information is below, please sign up as soon as you can so you can secure your spot. You have 2 full months to prepare for the Half or the 5K!

Finally, I am also signed up for the 10K on 6/5. This is going to be a beautiful race along the water in Annapolis.

Spots are filling up fast for each of these events so don’t miss out! And please let me know which you plan to attend.
Happy Trails!

Hi Allison,It looks like I will see you at least at the 5/29 Half marathon. I haven’t yet registered but I’m pretty sure I will be running in it. Let me know on the Group long runs in July. I might be up for them.I did register for the 5/14 Police 5K race also after seeing it in your email. Too bad you can’t make that one.

 Thanks!Tracy

Hey Ladies,

You guys missed out on a really great run on Sunday! Tara and I estimate that we ran 10miles. I won’t lie, it wasn’t easy I have felt the burn the last 2 days. I wanted to stop, but that’s why running with a buddy is so great, Tara encouraged me to keep going and I feel very proud of myself for doing so!  So grab a buddy and get to running!

Also, cross training is very important. For those of you who are running regularly make sure you are doing something else at least once a week so that your muscles are getting a maximum workout. I’ve just started taking yoga classes. I believe becoming more flexible will protect me against injuries.

The next race coming up is the Mud Run. Please let me know if you have registered so we can plan to meet the morning of.

Finally, please review the list of upcoming races below and register as soon as you can before the races fill up. If there are any other running, or other athletic events, that you know about please feel free to share them.
Happy Trails!

Hi Ladies,

Just a reminder that I would like to do a group run this saturday morning around 10am. Please let me know if any of you can join me.

Also, you missed out on a really fun Mud Run this year! They added a lot more mud and obstacles than in years past. My shoe came off completely part way through and it was duck taped to my foot! It is definitely a nice change of pace from typical 5K’s and you should definitely check it out one year if you can.

The next race that I am scheduled for is a half marathon on 5/29. This is part of the Alexandria running festival. There is also a 5K and a half marathon relay if a group of you would like to participate together. Registration is still open so it’s not too late to join in the fun!

Happy Trails!

Hi Ladies!

Jerisha and I had a really good run on Sunday. 8miles, from what I now know is called Belle Haven Park, down towards Mt.Vernon and back. It was a beautiful day to be outdoors, I hope you were also out enjoying it. This weekend is my first half marathon. I’m a little nervous. My time probably won’t be as good as I hoped, but I do aim for about 2.5hrs. Say a prayer for me!

I hope you all enjoy the holiday weekend. If you haven’t signed up for the Susan G.Komen race in DC I highly recommend it.  I won’t be able to attend this year, but they always give out tons of swag. Plus its a nice run around the tidal basin.

Happy Trails!

Allison

Hi Ladies!

I can now check my first half-marathon off my list! Sunday was actually a really nice day for a long run. It was overcast and we ran around a lake in Cameron Run Park in Alexandria where there was a nice breeze. I finished in 2hrs 32min. I was hoping for something closer to 2hrs flat, but I have difficulty pacing myself. That just gives me something to work on for the next few months. I’ve decided not to get discouraged that a man with one leg, and a woman that probably ran her first race in the 1920’s beat me……at least I wasn’t last!

Running is such a mental sport. Over the last four months I’ve tried talking myself out of training almost every day. But if I’d listened to that bad voice in my head I wouldn’t have the accomplishment that I have today(I’ve decided to name that voice so I can call him out when he gets too loud) This is why I keep sending these emails to you guys, even if most of you never make it to a race or group run, I’m using this as a way to hold myself accountable in order to reach my goal.

Five more months until the full marathon. I don’t expect it to be any easier now that I did the half-marathon, but I’m also not as intimidated as I once was. I’ll be registering for it next week. If anyone would like to come hang out in AC and help pick me up off the pavement once I cross the finish line, please feel free. I will let you know where I am staying as soon as I have details.

Jessica, I’ll see you this weekend at the 10K, but you’ll have to call me Tara in public, lol!

Please note that I added dates for a group run in July. Let me know if you will be able to attend.

Happy Trails!

Allison

Hi Ladies!

Another week, another race! Yesterday, Jessica and I ran the Zooma 10K in Annapolis. It was a great day for a run! Though it started out a little muggy, and it drizzled for about 2minutes, it broke up the humidity and stayed nice and overcast so we could finish the race. Annapolis is full of hills, but we ran the entire 6.2 miles and beat our last 10K times from back in March….Jessica beat hers by over 10min!!!!!

I am suffering from pretty bad shin splints so I’ll be taking a week off. Luckily this coincides with vacation, so a few days of swimming and laying around with my feet up should do me some good. I have also recently started some chiropractic therapy sessions, I highly recommend you to try it if you have never been. The wear and tear we put on our bones and muscles during exercise can be helped greatly with spinal readjustments and massage therapy.

I added a new race to July, the Crystal City twilighter. It starts at 8pm! It should be a nice change of pace and maybe we can hang around Crystal City to grab a bite and a cocktail afterwards.

Happy Trails!

Hi Ladies!

The break over, I am back to training! The two week break was just what the doctor ordered. I haven’t had any problems with shinsplints lately, I made sure to medicate well while on vacation in Punta Cana as you can see.

It was hard, but I forced myself to drink as many liquids as I possibly could.

Now fully hydrated and revitalized I can resume my training schedule. I have registered for the Crystal City Twilighter(5K) on 7/23 it starts at 8:30pm!. So far I have only heard back from Tracy, please let me know if anyone else plans to attend.

Also, let me know if you can make it to the group run on 7/10. We will meet at Bell Haven Park in Alexandria at 9:30am. I know its early, but I want to get done before it gets too hot.

Happy Trails!

I’ve been slacking off ladies……..

Since my vacation, I’m finding it hard to keep my motivation up and I’m only half way through the marathon training!  I thought the better I get through these races the more I would want to run, unfortunately I find the better I get through the races, the less I feel I need to train. That’s all well and good for a 5K or 10K, but not for 26.2miles!!!

Hopefully, by sharing this with you I will shame myself into running more often. Instead of only running 2-3days/wk, I need to get it back up to 5-6days/wk.

With that being said, this weekend I desperately need to get a long run in, i’m thinking 8-10miles. I haven’t done one of these in about a month so I’m way overdue. Anyone planning to come out to the group run this weekend, don’t feel discouraged if you don’t think you can do this much, I will probably have to walk at least some of this too. If you prefer, you can bring a bike, rollerblades, skateboard, or scooter and roll along side me you are welcomed and highly encouraged to do so. In fact, it will probably help me with my pace. I have had trouble keeping it up and I end up running way too slow.

I added a non-running event for August. I may have mentioned to some of you that I have been studying yoga this year. I found a “Yoga for Runners” workshop that I am excited to attend! I’ll probably register for that sometime this week. As always please let me know if you plan to attend so we can meetup.

Happy Trails!

Allison

Hi Ladies!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was pretty nice, I spent a lot of time outdoors. Yesterday’s group run was productive, even though we didn’t run the whole thing, we still finished 8miles! Thank you Tara and Jerisha for coming out and braving the heat.   The next group run on 7/30 will begin at 7:30am so that we beat the heat as much as possible.

There isn’t much going on this week, just more training with an emphasis on cross training. Remember it’s important to cross train in order to prevent injury(my poor shin splints have returned). In preparation for the upcoming 5K(3.1miles) on 7/23 I thought you may find this article helpful, http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-244-259-13972-0,00.html.

If you you plan on attending but haven’t registered I encourage you to do so asap before registration closes. Also, note I have added a new race to December. There is a Hot Chocolate 15Krun(~9miles) where they give you a chocolate goodie bag when you cross the finish line!!!!!

Happy Trails!

Hello Ladies!

For those of you running(or being outdoors at all) this weekend please make sure you HYDRATE. And if you think  you’ve hydrated enough, have another bottle! It is going to be a scorcher, even at 8:30pm. I plan to arrive around 7:30ish and I plan to finish at any minute or second before 9:00pm!

I have added a new race to August. The Baltimore 10miler. The Caribbean Sounds races have a 5k/8K/10K in DC for those of you who don’t want to go all the way to Baltimore. If anyone is interested in running let me know, we can crash at my bmore house the night before.

I also added a 20miler to September. Right now, Tracy is the only one I know training for a marathon besides me, but all are welcome. There is no time limit for this race.

I found the below links and thought they might be helpful to you in your training. I am registered for the Yoga for Runners workshop on 8/7, let me know if you plan to attend.

Hello Ladies!
As you know Saturday was extremely hot even at 8pm. So it’s safe to say I didn’t break my 30min goal this time around. But that’s ok, it just gives me something to work toward in the next race. All things considered I think Jerisha, Tracy and I had a great time. Jerisha has introduced me to coconut water as a post workout drink. I don’t care for the taste myself, but you should check it out and let me know what you think.

This weekend 7/30 is the next group run at Belle Haven Park. I would like to meet no later than 7:30am so that we can beat the heat wave. I need to complete 15miles to stay even close to my schedule. I know that I will not run most of it, but I have to at least do a full walk through. I don’t want to discourage anyone from coming out to joint me, I just don’t want you to be surprised when you get there. Remember you can bring your skates, bikes, rollerblades, or scooters either way you are sure to get a great workout!

Another idea: Belle Haven Park to Mt.Vernon is 7.5miles one way. If you want to meet me at Mt.Vernon around 8:45(I’m estimating an hour 15min one way), you can run one way and I will drive you back to your car. This is a nice solid run for some of you that are ramping up, and I would appreciate any support you can provide. This heat has kept my motivation really low lately, and it’s hard to run more than 6miles on an indoor treadmill.

Check out the updated schedule below. I added a few new runs. I plan to register for the 10miler next week.

Happy Trails!

Hi Ladies!

This past Saturday it was just me and the trail. For 15miles we fought it out. Many many times I contemplated sitting on the side of the road and just wait for someone to come pick me up. SERIOUSLY CONTEMPLATED.  But I knew I just had to go a little farther….and a little farther…….and a little farther.   It was rough, and I don’t expect it to get much easier, but I don’t have a choice if I want to do 26.2 by Oct. 16th!

Running is one of the most mentally challenging events you can do. It doesn’t take long to get the cobb webbs out of your lungs and limbs so that you can do distance runs, but it does take a long time to get the cobb webs out of your head so that you can believe that you can do it. The struggle is personal, and you have to have some real heart to heart talks with yourself to figure out how you are going to get through. Between you and the road is like a free therapy session. Pound out those issues mile by mile and return home a healthier person all around.

With that being said, this experience has opened my eyes to how important the long weekend runs are to my training and I am now re-committing to these runs, EVERY weekend until October. This Saturday I’ll be back at Mt. Vernon. I’m going to take it down to 10miles to recover and back up to 15miles next weekend. Most of the runs will probably be on Saturday mornings now so that I have a day to recover before going to work. As always you are encouraged to join me. There were a lot of bikers and even a couple skaters out. So bring your 2,3,or  4 wheeled companions out for a great workout!

The trail is really nice. There is a water fountain about every 2.5miles and it is mostly shaded with a light breeze coming from the water. I plan on getting proper running socks to prevent blisters, and a waterbottle that I can run with to prepare for runs over 10miles. I would encourage you to do the same.

Tracy sent me this really good article, whether you are training for a full or half marathon this year or next, I found a lot of helpful info that I plan to incorporate into my personal plan.

Happy Trails!

Allison

Hi Ladies!

What a difference 2wks makes!  Since my wakeup call on 7/30, I commited to long runs (over 10miles) every weekend and to ramp up miles during the week, until the marathon in October. Well this weekend was my 2nd attempt at 15miles and the results were better than I could have hoped. It was still difficult, of course, but in ‘a good workout’ sort of way not like ‘i’m going to die’ sort of way. The new socks, waterbottle, and gatorade break were definitely great additions to my training regimen as well.

BIG THANKS to Jerisha for coming out and running 7.5miles with me and cheering me on!

This week I’m going to do 15miles one more time before ramping up to 18miles on 8/27. At first I was going to take it down to 12, but I think 18 will be less of a shock if I have been able to do 15 miles at least 3 times. This may not be ‘by the book’ training, but I’m trying to listen to what my body is telling me and this is what I heard it say.

My biggest fear about the marathon at this point is that you never run more than 20miles before the big day.  I guess adrenaline is supposed to carry you the additional 6.2miles. I’m not convinced I can produce 6.2miles of adrenaline without a murderer or rabid dog chasing me, or a big wad of cash waiting for me at the finish line! Without that I think I have maybe 3miles of adrenaline tops!

I fear this will be me, http://youtu.be/MTn1v5TGK_w and because of this fear I am going to work my tush off for the next 9weeks! If I feel this confident after 2weeks, I’m thinking i’ll be a rockstar in 9!!!!!

So come rock it out with me this Saturday! I’m starting at Mt.Vernon at 7:30am. I will meet you at the half way mark in Belle Haven park NLT 9am.

Happy Trails!

Allison

Hi Ladies!

15miles check! 18 miles…….18miles…..no check. :( sad

Hurricane Irene put a bit of a damper on my training schedule this past weekend but I plan to get caught up over the long Labor Day weekend. Granted I’ll be in TX where it’s probably 100degrees, but I will get my miles in!

I am officially registered for both the 20miler and the AC Marathon! They added a 10miler to the 20miler race, if anyone is interested. I haven’t secured a room for the AC marathon but as soon as I do I will forward the information to anyone who wants to come cheer me on (or just hang out by the beach).

As noted in the schedule below, the next group run is 9/10.

Below is an article about over-training that you may find helpful.

Hi Ladies,

It has been a rough month. I have moved back to Baltimore and that has thrown off my training routine completely. I did not run in TX and I feel terrible about it. The only thing I can do is keep moving forward and hope that I haven’t completely screwed myself over. But with 5weeks left, I think I can still get back on track.

This morning I got up and ran part of the B&A trail that runs from BWI to Annapolis(~10miles). The total length one way is about 13.5miles; http://www.aacounty.org/RecParks/parks/trails/bandatrailpark.cfm. It is a beautiful flat trail run. My only complaint is that I only saw one water fountain in four miles. Good thing I had my fanny pack water bottle handy :) happy. My new trick is to carry Gatorate powder and I can fill up my bottle at the water stations! It’s a great boost in the middle of a long run, obviously why they provide it to you during races. Overall the run felt really good, with minimal aches and pains.

This weekend is the 10&20miler in Carderock,MD. This 20miles will not be a pretty run, but I have to just get through it so my body can know what it feels like. I will plan on doing another 15-18miles next weekend, before I start ramping down. I’ll be back at the B&A trail as 9/24, joggers/walkers/skaters/bikers are welcome!

Happy Trails!

Always,
Allison

Subject: Marathon Training Update!

Hi Ladies!

First of all let me say THANK YOU to everyone who has called to check on me or sent me words of encouragement this week! You have no idea how much that has helped me to get through this process mentally. I appreciate you guys!!!  Only 4weeks left!!! (This was my last race before the marathon, I will not be attending the Navy miler this weekend.)

I did it….. 20miles! OMG, I can’t believe it! I know I still have the full marathon to do, but I’m feeling pretty full of myself right now (even if I’ve been laid up in bed for 8hours, lol. Fortunately I was comforted by my good friends Rum and Coke).

I feel a theme song is in order, and seeing how this song popped into my head on the trail it seems appropriate, http://youtu.be/u97VNtFgRjw.

So here are the highlights…..

First the negatives:

1. This race was run by yahoos!
2. Directions were awful, I drove around for an hour trying to find the location, ended up late and started the race about 8minutes behind everyone. Luckily, there was no time limit.
3. Where was the pomp and circumstance?!?! I’m sorry but 20miles is a big deal and I’ve seen bigger productions for 5Ks!!!!! No balloons, no tents, no signs!!!

Now for the positives:

1. High of 58 degrees, light drizzle, perfect running weather.
2. Gravel trail, easier on the joints!
3. I ran the whole first 13miles! I swear! If I wasn’t there I wouldn’t believe it either, but I did.
        I started at 8:12am
        Mile 10 @ 10:05am
        Mile 13 @ 10:44am
        Mile 20 @ 12:35am
        Total time 4hr 23min. http://www.mc-coop.org/results/20110917-20.html
4. I didn’t feel like I wanted to die like after the first time I did 15miles. This time was more like I just wanted to be put into a chemically induced coma for 2days.
5. Yoga breaths helped me to relax when I started to tense up.
6. I had a chiropractic adjustment 2days before the big run, and I totally felt the difference.

Lessons Learned:

1. Pack a couple of Advil in my pocket for mile 18.
2. Apply more Vaseline to my feet. I started to feel the blisters around mile 13, but I think my feet just started to go numb by mile 17.
3. I’m going to aim to run the first 15miles in the marathon to bring my time down. I was hoping to complete 26miles in 4 1/2 hrs, so I still have work to do.
4. Definitely going to do another 18-20miles next weekend. I had such good results doing 15miles two weeks in a row, I’m going to stick with a regimen that has been working for me.

Happy Trails!

Allison

Hi Ladies!

Only 2weeks left! OMG! WTH?!?! **SMH**

A big thank you to Rachel who met me on the B&A trail with her bike so I could get my last long run in before 10/16. We did 15miles and it was well over due. I hope I got the cobb webbs out and that I will be better prepared for 26.2.

I’ve ordered new shoes and should have them broken-in in time. I will do 3 short runs during this upcoming week, 10miles on Saturday 10/8, and 2-3 short runs the following week. Since they are the same exact shoe, I believe this should be enough time.

I have hotel reservations at the Showboat hotel in A.C. We plan to drive up around 10-11am on Saturday and the race is Sunday morning at 8am. Everyone is more than welcome to come, I totally appreciate all of your support. So far Rachel, Dawn, and Jerisha have confirmed they are coming, Yay!!!!

This Saturday I will have my last (semi) long run of 10miles. It would be great to see as many of you as possible. If you are able to make it around 8am, I would love to see you. Location is TBD, but I am willing to take suggestions if you are able to come out and join me. Remember you can bring your bikes, skates, or scooters if you like!

Happy Trails!
Always,
Allison

Subject: FINAL: Marathon Training Update!!!!!!

I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT I DID IT!!!!!!!

OMG, It’s over, thank you Lord!  Okay now let me go into my rapper mode for one minute. First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for getting me through this journey. In all my training I never suffered more than shin splints, and I am so grateful.  He knows how much I called out his name over the course of 26.2miles and he saw me through! Praise him!

Secondly, BIG thank you to Dawn, Rachel and Jerisha for making the trip to Atlantic City, giving up your time and money to support me. You are truly appreciated!

Congrats to Rachel for running the 5K, you were doing your thang Mami!!!!

So about this marathon. I was soo nervous when I woke up Sunday morning. In all my training I never could really imagine myself completing 26miles and crossing the finish line, and I was really worried about that last 6miles. The only thing I could tell myself is there is only one way to get back, and I wasn’t planning on catching a ride with the ambulance.

It was rough. I originally chose this marathon because it was flat. In the first 4miles there were 3 inclines. But the rest of the course was flat. Unfortunately, no one told mother nature that we were running that day so we ran miles 8-16 into a direct head wind. I was physically moved by the wind at times and believe this negatively affected my time. I had to stop to walk sooner than expected because fighting the wind became just too hard. My unofficial timekeeping is 5hrs 34min.  If for no other reason, I may run another one (one day) just so I can break that 5hr mark and come closer to the 4:30 I had originally intended.

According to my watch:   I started @ 8:06
                                       Mile 10 @ 9:54
                                       Mile 13 @ 10:33
                                       Mile 16 @ 11:15
                                       Mile 20 @ 12:13
                                       Finish line @ 1:40

Otherwise, it was a perfect day for running high 60s, sunny but a little overcast, and right along the beach. Running on the actual boardwalk was a little tough on my lower back, but I think it was easier on my joints compared to the 18miles that was run on the streets.

I learned a lot from the 20miler. I packed on the Vaseline, so blisters were not an issue. I also packed 2 Advil which I took at miles 16 and 21 and I have suffered no swelling so far. Beyond the extreme soreness one would expect to feel from running long distance, I feel good. At least better than expected.

This was such a tremendous journey for me. If I wasn’t sending out these emails, I may have given up months ago. I feel like I had every reason not to do it, but a combination of pride, a competitive spirit, and holding myself accountable to you all helped me to achieve my goal. Thank you for your support. I hope you know that I will be there for each of you in whatever task/project/goal you decide to take on for yourselves.

2011 was filled with ups and downs for me personally and professionally, but I think things are finally coming around in this last quarter. If nothing else, my biggest take away has been mental. I crossed the finish line feeling a little choked up, vaclempt, if you will. Not from pain, but from taking in the enormity of what I’ve done. I think i’ve come away from this experience tougher and stronger than I could have imagined, and I hope to do something really great in the near future!

Happy Trails!

Always,
Allison
